If you’re a truck-driving professional, it’s inevitable that your rig is going to break down at some point. So you need to have enough confidence in your company to know they’ll have your back when you’re stuck on the side of some highway.
Our resident driver and vlogger Robin broke down in Tennessee a few months ago, and even though her tractor was just a couple years old, we deemed it unfit for the road and she got a new one. We’re not saying every mechanical problem will result in a new rig, but we do know when to make that call. Robin is now driving a beautiful, dark gray 2019 Volvo VNL 860, which she affectionately named Venus de Volvo.
Robin recently took us on a video tour of her new rig, which she’s been in for a few months now. The biggest comfort, she says, is the dinette table with two cushioned bench seats that converts to a bed. To avoid the daily conversion and because she loves having a table, she sleeps in the top bunk, which is accessible via folding ladder.
The cab is full of storage options, and the sleeper portion contains two large closet units, two dresser drawers, and a large fridge and freezer. She has decked it out with personal touches to make it her home away from home — a TV, pillows, and bright-colored blankets.
Her rig is so spacious that she can’t even reach the ceiling, and she’s able to do jumping jacks inside! Having a sacred space of her own makes Robin feel safe, comfortable, confident, and refreshed enough to tackle her work every day.
Robin’s story may seem unique to you, but it’s not unique to V&S. We’re a Women in Trucking member and supporter, and we focus on creating opportunities within our company that further its mission.
