Experience Requirements

  • 1 – 3 years of experience working in the transportation industry as a Trailer Mechanic (preferred)

Education Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ability to read and understand diagnostic equipment and codes
  • Determine trailer condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests; identify worn and damaged parts
  • Keep equipment available for use by completing preventative maintenance schedules; installing component and part upgrades; controlling corrosion, completing winterization procedures.
  • Maintain trailer appearance
  • Maintain accurate repair and service records
  • Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions and troubleshoot breakdowns; maintain supplies; perform preventative maintenance; call for repairs
  • Contain costs by using warranty, evaluating service and parts options
  • Keep supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, verifying receipt
  • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical and regulation publications
  • Enhance maintenance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments

Qualifications

  • Must be service oriented, influential and adaptable to change

Work half the year, get on average $26.00 per hour ($27.00 Nights) for experienced drivers and be home every day as a CDL local driver for Midwest Carriers.
